This hidden bar in Paris is creating a Mexican chef series

On the 1st of February, Santiago Lastra (Noma Mexico, Mugaritz) will be the first Mexican guest chef at La Mezcaleria.

Rising star Santiago Lastra has most recently been named one of the Top 10 Chefs to watch in Scandinavia and has spent the past couple years traveling and being a guest Chef in over 14 countries. For one night, he will share his exquisite take on his native Mexican cuisine, utilizing the best of French produce in the most reputable Mexican cocktail bar in Paris.

La Mezcaleria - a clandestine bar hidden behind the kitchen of Hotel 1K’s Peruvian restaurant - has been introducing mezcal in Paris. Inside this speakeasy bar at Le Marais, you’ll find a bright, buzzing space with a glass ceiling and Mexican-inspired décor featuring colorful papier-mache skeletons, a large statue of Santa Muerte adorned in outlandish festival attire, and cozy armchairs covered in Aztec prints.
